November Favorites

It's that time already!  This year has flown by...but I did manage to pick out some new favorite items in the last thirty days.  Enjoy!

I did manage to buy a better camera.  Unfortunately, it didn't arrive in time to shoot this video.  I did, however, fix the sound!  Can't wait to shoot my next video with my new fancy camera!

Review: Yves Saint Laurent Pinceau Eyeliner Brush

I recently had the chance to try a new eyeliner brush.  I've always preferred Bobbi Brown's ultra thin eyeliner brush (despite the name, it's actually thicker than a standard eyeliner brush) but decided variety is the spice of life - so, I picked up this YSL brush when I left my brush when visiting out of town this month.

The brush comes in the standard yellow YSL box.  Made to work with YSL's Effet Faux Cils cream eyeliner - but will work with most gel eyeliners, too.  The handle is shorter than most eyeliner brushes.  I like this as it gives me more control over the brush's movement.

The brush is advertised as being "calligraphy-style".  And, it is.  The brush reminds me of a smaller version of a Chinese calligraphy brush.

The shape of the brush allows you to just "paint" the gel eyeliner on.  It's very smooth and easy to use and it delivers a nice line.

Overall, I prefer a brush that offers more control.  I like to play with my eyeliner and this is a little too fluid.  If, however, you like to draw a nice smooth line every time - this could be the brush for you.  I picked mine up at my local Sephora for $25.

If you've tried this brush I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Is there another you prefer?

October Favorites

Hey guys,

My October Favorites video is up!  It's my first video...and I'm still working on sound.  So, I apologize for that. I'd appreciate any feedback.

Sorry it's so late!  I've been super busy recently.  Better late than never!  :)

Thanks! XOXO

LUSH Lip Scrubs

Last month I bought a product that I keep meaning to buy but never makes the final cut.  LUSH's lip scrubs always sounded fantastic.  I just never viewed them as a necessity nor is their packaging unique.

I wish I'd succumbed to the urge to purchase this earlier!  This is now a staple in my bag.  I use this before applying lip stick (especially bold or matte colors) and it really makes a difference!  My favorite use for this is prior to my lip balm or rose salve.  My lips retain the moisture and don't chap nearly as easily nor as soon.

The product is a sugar scrub.  You apply a little to your lips and then, gently, rub them back and forth.  Since the product is all natural, you just lick the scrub off your lip...and, voila!  Freshly exfoliated lips!

I chose the Sweet Lips version.  It has a brown sugary taste with a hint of chocolate.  The scrub comes in a variety of flavors if sweet isn't your thing.  You can purchase the scrub at your local LUSH store or here.  Let me know what you think...and if there are any other similar products that I should try.

The Search is On...

Recently I was on, yet another, search for the perfect foundation.  I thought I'd found it...but, after a few weeks of use, it started oxidizing horribly.  Even my husband said I looked like I was wearing a mask.  I started working on a number of projects and had no time (nor real need) for the epic search that is finding a foundation...until last month when I decided I needed a go-to foundation.

I spent a lot of time on different beauty blogs and YouTube channels getting different opinions before I set out to get some samples.  When searching these sites, I looked for someone who...well, looked like me.  I wanted someone who had similar skin, was in my age group, and who's style was akin to mine.  Thus started the germination of this blog.

I'm asked all the time about different products from friends, co workers, and even strangers!  I like to try different products all the time.  I've never been one to be "set in my make-up ways".  Why have I been holding these opinions to myself?  So, here's to hoping that my testing, failing, and re-trying of products (including foundation) will be able to help others...

And, if you were wondering, I did find my foundation.  :)
